Do Businesses Really Need Social Media Marketing
If you don’t really know if social media is very important to businesses today…scratch that! That’s an “how”, not an “if”. I encourage you to stick to the end because I would be going through all the reasons and points why all, and I mean ALL, small businesses need Social Media Marketing(SMM) and why they need to get on it as soon as possible Don’t get me wrong, this does not mean big businesses do not do SMM, quite on the contrary, they benefit a lot from harnessing the power of SMM. There’s nothing that say you shouldn’t too, hence this post.
Basically, SMM is said to be carried out when small businesses outsource their social media pages to professional personnel; who manage their social media pages on Facebook and Instagram for them. Note that I only mentioned Facebook and Instagram because a very large majority of audience are mostly on those two platforms. Social Media Managers also run paid advertisements through the Facebook; Facebook has an application called the Ads Manager where anyone can create, set and run paid ads for their business(es) in order to get them new clients and sales. The reasons why we do social marketing are to grow Social and Monetary Return on Investment(ROI) i.e. not only growing the monetary ROI but also social brand presences, getting more clients, comments, followers and more engagements around the brand.
To secure the services of a Social Media Manager, clients pay a retainer or some other sort of prearranged compensation to have their social page(s) managed and grow their ROI. Arrangements are based on time durations which usually include, but are not limited to weekly, monthly, quarterly intervals. Also, commissions could be paid based on the number of clients secured and/or sales made.
Now, the reason(s) why businesses need to take advantage of SMM, especially now, include the following:
-
Modern Culture
Almost every single person out there is on social media. Right now, you are on Social Media, I believe every single person reading this has Facebook account. The majority of the world where these small businesses will be located are on social media; especially the younger generation or millenials as they are usually called, a lot of them being beauty- and fashion- inclined. So, if we are going to be running a hair salon for example, it is going to be very beneficial to be on SM where a lot of the potential clients are. Suffice it to say that within the next 3 to 5 years; businesses that are not on SM would be left behind.
-
Lack of Competition
What I mean by this, is that there are a lot of small businesses on Facebook, Instagram but only a sprinkling out of them all uses paid advertisement. Some are very wary of using paid ads because they think it might not work, but they fail to realize that in the right hands of an experienced Social Media Manager who can read the market and apply appropriate and timely tactics and tweaks to the ads, the results will would be unbelievable. Posting on Facebook is not good enough; you need to be running paid ads online in order to get in front of the big audience and it’s usually better to hire professional Social Media Managers: we’ll get to that in a minute.

Insane Powers of Facebook Advertising
The fact that some businesses are still out there paying for Leaflets, Radio and TV advertisement just blows my mind because Facebook advertisement is so powerful that you can literally target potentially interested individuals based on their location, age, gender and interests. In fact, it gets crazy when you need to retarget people. You can practically have your products in people’s face all the time. And not just anybody, but potentially interested individuals that the almighty Facebook Algorithm have discovered for you.
-
Provides Massive Results
The reason why it provides massive results is the lack of competition and also the crazy power of it. You can also target your perfect demographic of these businesses, for example, people with interest in Italian dishes, dogs, cats, anything! For example, you could be selling blue screens that help reduce the effect of glare from screens like laptops or phones. In this case you could easily target people who are interested in programming, web or software development as they are more likely to be the kind of people who need it. Why? They usually have at least one PC. You can now see why you need to start using social media to reach out to your clients.
I won’t do complete justice to this post if I fail to mention the right place to find experienced Social Media Managers who can get the job done. You can find them here.
Love to be one of them? Well, you can over here.
As I earlier promised, here are the 2 reasons why it is better to hire professional Social Media Managers;
- Owners have no free time to go out and learn this as they need time to run their business properly. A certain level of expertise is needed to get great results and it makes so much sense that the pro is allowed to do the job.
- Owners can’t afford to hire a full time marketing team to do it for them. Of course, that’s a major reason behind this post.
Once again, here’s how Social Media Managers save the day for small businesses!!!
- Take time off their hands
- Offer very fair and affordable prices
- Grow their brand presence
- Generate them a ROI
